Key Information
Spring 1
We are looking forward to welcoming the children back after the Christmas holidays. Below is the key information you will need:
Sharks will continue to have forest school on alternate Tuesdays. The kit for this includes a change of footwear (preferably wellies), and a complete change of clothes that fully cover arms and legs. The dates for Forest school are:
14/01/25 – Sharks
28/01/25 – Sharks
11/02/25 – Sharks
Sharks will be swimming on a Monday, so they will need their swimming kits on this day.
Swimming kit should include swimming shorts or swimming costume (no bikinis), a swimming hat, and a towel. If you would like your child to wear goggles, we will need a written permission letter or email. PE kit should include a white top, black tracksuit and trainers. The children may be inside or outside for PE.
For PE, swimming and Forest School, earrings must be removed before the school day and hair needs to be tied back. School staff are no longer permitted to remove earrings, and tape cannot be used to cover them. Children will not be able to participate with earrings in.
*REMINDER* Please remember to name all jumpers/coats etc, we have a lot of lost property that is not named, so we cannot return it to the correct child. If you are missing any items that were not named, please ask to look in our lost property tub.
Spring 1 curriculum
We are looking forward to another exciting half term in Year 3. Below you can see an insight into our learning adventures planned for Spring 1!
In Maths, we will be wrapping up our multiplication and division topic before diving into length and perimeter in more detail, followed closely by our unit on fractions.
In English, we will kick off the term with an engaging poetry unit, where we will be crafting a descriptive poem about the river in the Stone Age. Following this, Year 3 will have the opportunity to write their own stories set in the Stone Age, drawing on inspiration from the picture book Stone Age Boy by Katoshi Kitamura.
In Science, our focus will be on light and shadow, where the children will engage in hands-on experiments. History lessons will transport us back to the fascinating era of Ancient Egypt.
In RE, we will be learning about how festivals and worship show what matters to Muslims. In art, we will be creating some Ancient Egyptian scrolls!
Our PSHE lessons will centre on safety, with a focus on e-safety and understanding the changing body. In French, we will learn about instruments, while our Computing lessons will focus on sequencing sounds, in order to creating sequences in a block-based programming language to make music. Lastly, in music, we will be developing our singing techniques.
It promises to be a fun six weeks full of learning and exploration.
